KS1 Phonics Screening Check is provided by Kindling Tools (“we”, “us”, “our”). These terms govern your use of our website at ks1phonicsscreeningcheck.com and the KS1 Phonics web application.

What we provide

KS1 Phonics Screening Check is a free educational tool to help children practise phonics decoding. The app includes:

  • Real word practice across phonics phases
  • Alien (pseudo-word) practice
  • A simulation of the Year 1 Phonics Screening Check format

Not an official service

Important: KS1 Phonics Screening Check is an unofficial practice tool. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to the Department for Education (DfE), the Standards and Testing Agency (STA), or the UK Government.

The phonics check simulation mode is designed to help children become familiar with the format of the check, but it is not identical to the official assessment. For official information about the Phonics Screening Check, visit GOV.UK.

Using the service

Who can use it

KS1 Phonics Screening Check is designed for:

  • Children in primary school (typically ages 5–7)
  • Parents and carers supporting children’s learning
  • Teachers and educators

Children should use the app with appropriate adult supervision.

Acceptable use
